The Tenafly Racquet Club is a year-round indoor facility with 8 tennis courts, located in Tenafly, New Jersey.
Original Situation
The Tenafly Racquet Club was looking to upgrade their existing lighting system as part of an overall building renovation. The objectives included increasing lighting levels, reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs, and gaining control capabilities, including on/off and dimming. The club also sought to decrease glare by changing its lighting method from direct (fluorescent) to indirect.
The existing lighting system consisted of 208 4 T12 100W fluorescent fixtures, and the club was considering upgrading to 1000W.
The Solution
Metrolight’s system integrator partner in the US, MicroStart LLC, deploys turnkey projects that include lighting system upgrades and new installations. MicroStart recommended replacing the club’s fluorescent fixtures with Metrolight Smart Electronic Ballast for HID™ 400W. In addition, MicroStart would install unique light suspensions that would enable indirect fixture installation with invisible wiring. Finally, Metrolight Control™ would be installed as a central control system, to allow lighting control per fixture and/or per court (group of 22).
The Result
After the Metrolight installation, the Tenafly Racquet Club was able to provide shadowless, non-glare lighting on its courts. In addition, the club gained energy savings of 35%, while nearly tripling light output and significantly reducing maintenance costs.
